Fall, 2009 - Winter/Spring, 2010 - The Board has moved forward with:

  • revised bylaws;
  • state incorporation;
  • federal IRS 501c12 status;
  • declaration of water emergency;
  • application for and receipt of a $47,550 planning grant from NMFA;
  • selection of engineering firm to write the Preliminary Engineering Report;
  • application/receipt of a $25K USDA grant for the environmental study;
  • application/receipt of a $20K Board of Finance loan for truck and tanks;
  • purchase of a potable water hauling truck;
  • purchase of water storage tanks for low-income residents;
  • initiation of a membership drive;
  • initiation of an area-wide household income survey;
  • production of a marketing brochure;
  • regular monthly Board of Directors' meetings;
  • regular communication with area legislators and governmental agencies.

Summer 2010-2014

  • water hauling continues during the drought
  • Preliminary Engineering Report completed in March 2011
  • $100,000 from the NM Water Trust Board in 2012 for engineering design and drawings of the system
  • $998,885 from the NM Water Trust Board in July 2013 to bulid phase I: drilling a community well, a storage tank and a fill station at county road A20 and Mira Sol.
  • Construction started in summer of 2014

2015

  • Work was stopped on the well in January 2015 by the State Engineer requiring an updated Operations Plan to address how cross-flow water from the two water bearing encountered by our well will be prevented.
  • Work on the test well, pump test and water quality test resumed in Summer 2015.
  • August/September: The drill bit was stuck due to sitting so long. We were unable to retrieve it, and the well will be capped.

2016

  • Hays began drilling a new well in January
  • March 1: Hays Plumbing drilled to approximately 580 feet. They encountered a water bearing zone which produced approximately 100 gpm at 530 feet.

2017

  • March: Lines were laid and meters installed to 15 homes.
  • Spring-Summer: Lawsuits by citizens and the City of Las Vegas delayed turning on the system.
